Based on Iberostar's website, it appears that they have started an "Iberstate" project which includes condos and villas being built at both the Mexico Paraiso and the Dominican Republic Bavaro properties.  The information is very limited at this time, it looks like it is a very new project.  Does anyone have any additional information about this?  Will the condos/villa be time-shares, or solely owned?  Will they have access to all of the amenities of the resorts, such as pools, spa and food?  Has anyone seen the start of the building process?  It looks as though the properties in Mexico will be in close proximity to the golf course.  I would be very interested in purchasing something like this, to make my Iberostar dreams come true!  We visit the Iberostar Grand in Mexico twice a year, and I would love to be able to call somewhere like that home!!!  At least part of the year...  any information anyone may have would be greatly appreciated!

At the time I toured the gold villas at the Playa Paraiso complex the exact details were still being worked out.  The Director of Golf Operations told me that they would be very exclusive and expensive.

He was not in favor of a time share/ownership  arrangement and that they were looking to charge by the week.  When pressed he advised it would be "north" of the price for the Presidential Suite at the Grand.

A coworker who was at the resort and played the course in Dec 08 was told that the price for the villas would start at $10,000USD a week and that there was going to be some vetting process as they did not want just anybody occupying them.

Sorry for the bad news.  IB* as a company has been very adept at keeping the "time share" crap away from their Caribbean properties.  IMHO too many resorts blend TS and regular guests.  Either go 100% TS or 100% guests but don't mix them.

End of sermon.

I was hoping that this was similar to Bahia Principe Sian Ka'an condo/hotel project.  $172 per square foot for a fully furnished condo, and they will manage it for you as an income producing vacation rental.  Sounds almost too good to be true.

One would think the minimum $10,000 price tag would serve as enough of a vetting process. I agree that it's best to keep the time share portion out of the resort since that sort of opportunity is already available in other resorts. Depending on what they offered with villas, and what the actual price tag is, I'd love an option like this. We just booked a private villa at a smaller resort for our honeymoon because we wanted a more secluded option. I'm sure others would love to have this option available to them, coupled with the guarantee of IB* quality service. Providing the price-point was right!
